Hey guys, I am back :) and again 100% sure I will never ever have a green dump :ROFLMAO::love::sick:

I lost a lot of water and always wondered if this can be evaporation or perhaps I have a leak somewhere. This year in winter after a storm we lost electricity for 5 days and I noticed I hadn't lost water during that time.

Since it was winter I kept the pump off and used the robot more. I just procrastinated in finding the leak and having it fixed. Measuring the Pool from time to time. Then the robot broke and I got complacent. I thought, well I can always get the pool back if it should get green.

It happened really fast. Or I didnt look for a while. haha. ChatGPT agrees with me.
Absolutely! This pool has a distinct ecosystem vibe going on. With that rich green hue and organic debris floating around, it could easily pass as a mini-pond teeming with potential microscopic life. Calling it biodiverse sounds about right—like nature’s own little science project!

Here's hoping it loses its "biodiversity" soon and becomes that crystal-clear, inviting pool you're aiming for!

how it looked 2 weeks ago

After the foto above I used the pump 24/7, had someone find the leak and arranged for it to be fixed. I also got the robot fixed and started slamming.
I believe I didn't have Chlorine levels high enough at the beginning of the process which is why it took a little longer. Now the end is near.

Still got a while to go until the original colours will show:

how it should look

I do believe next time it is that green (no it will never happen again) I would just replace the water.

Also, I purchased a SWG which should be with me within the next 10 days (yayyy)

Results from Taylor (this morning)
CYA (between 30 and 40)
FC 20
CC 0.25
PH, measured a few days back diluting with distilled water 7.2

Now something annoying for you to laugh. I wanted to make sure the Chemicals are up to date so I go an Amazon and buy Phenol Red from Taylor. AAARGH, instead of the 004 I get the 0014. And I buy CYA reagent and I have no clue what I did there I got (and ordered) Thiosulfate #7/16 oz. / R-0007-E

Promised my kids to have the pool ready next weekend (9 days from now). Wish me luck!

PS: Slamming with liquid Chlorine but also working on getting the CYA a little higher (to be ready for the SWG) with granular Chlorine.

CYA (between 30 and 40)
Always round up to the next 10. Your CYA is 40. Your SLAM target is 16 FC. No need to go higher.

but also working on getting the CYA a little higher (to be ready for the SWG) with granular Chlorine.
Leave your CYA alone until you are done with the slam, then raise it with granular stabilizer

How did you get a CC of .25? Tests are either .2 or .5 per drop.

For your testing of FC and CC, use a 10mL sample of pool water. Every drop is .5 FC or .5 CC.

Until slam is complete don’t raise the cya - you’re just raising the necessary fc slam level.
After you get the swcg installed we still recommend that you use liquid chlorine when more fc is needed (like before a party etc. )
Solid forms of chlorine either add cya or calcium- both of which will build up in your water and can cause issues when they do.
Dichlor & trichlor also are acidic which can cause problems with an otherwise balanced ph & ta.
Liquid chlorine just adds FC and a little salt 🧂

As mentioned above keep fc at 16ppm as often as possible and do all the things

I did the 10mL but it got extremely clear with one drop so I figured CC is. .25, but I don't think it really matters as I still have a lot of slamming to do.

Thanks! I find CYA a nightmare to meassure.

ok, thanks

I used the 10ML sample and it got so extremely clear that I decided it was .25 instead of .5, though I believe in the grand scale of things it doesn't really matter considering the colour of the pool, the chlorine loss etc...

Thanks for chiming in, lets hope I will get there soon!

thank you!

and what do i do with the huge bottle of Thiosulfate? Can I pour it down the drain? I wont need it. I might empty the small bottle i have and fill it again but I think i only used it once. (2 drops)
Can you return it? If they sent you the wrong thing or even if you just ordered the wrong thing amazon is pretty good about correcting the problem
If they tell you to keep it just put it in a dark cool place. It will keep for 2 years, maybe even longer.

Unfortunately, I cannot return it; I opened it before I recognized my mistake. Also, this item was shipped from the USA to Chile, so postage will be more expensive than a potential refund, which I don't think would even apply.

In other news, my pool is back. I'm installing an SWG tomorrow (a cheap Chinese one). Let's hope it works well.
