I just wanted to post a quick note to praise this forum. My previous pool was crystal clear for the 4ish years I lived at that house thanks to this forum (especially Brush Pup). I never once saw an algae bloom.
New home, new pool. I’ve used the TFP method and test kit…been using the recommended numbers for this fancy chlorine generator pool. We just had a brutal storm on Wednesday, a storm so bad I pulled 30ish lbs of sea grass and sticks and such out of my pool. My pool never looked so bad, I was seriously distraught over it.
I adjusted everything and turned the in floor cleaning system off as it appeared to just be kicking crud up. Checked the FC/TC 5/5.5. Well that’s not terrible. So I ran the H‑E‑B and bought 9 jugs of bleach. I know that each jug will raise my chlorine level by 4ppm. So I cranked it up to 21-22 overnight. The pumps ran all night, the next morning most of the stuff had settled so I grabbed the vacuum and went to town. I kept remembering other threads on here where our resident experts would say “get the organic material out”. This was not kind to my filter…but it was time to do a full tear down anyway…I guess.
It took me 3hrs of vacuuming and backwashing, but I got it cleaned up. Shortly after I finished my new robot arrived (timing is everything). Luckily a 25lb bag of DE was also on the FedEx truck.
This morning the pool is clear again. I’m going to finish up by making sure it will pass the OCLT.
Just wanted to post this as a thank you to all of the great people on here, and even to some of the not so great people. Y’all are ok too.
