We bought a house last Fall as pool season was ending. Sellers told us they built the pool and it was “salt water”. Same company that built pool has been continuously maintaining it for the last 7 years. After we closed on the house, I had the same pool company come out and kind of show me what the equipment did and how to work it. I kept them on for weekly cleaning. The technician that came out for that initial instruction said “hmm, your salt sensor is missing”. Once we moved in the house, I started shadowing pool cleaner (different guy) asking him about equipment and chemicals. He said he had been taking care of pool about 3 years and never added salt - only chlorine. I called pool company and they have no idea why/when salt sensor was removed but they looked back at last 2 years of service records and they did not add any salt. I called previous homeowners who are clueless and thought it was chlorinated with salt the whole time. No recollection of switching to chlorine only - but they were very hands off. They just let pool company do everything. Sooo, I have a Jandy salt cell. The sensor is missing. How could I find out if cell still works? Sensor is pretty cheap and (maybe) easy to install. Is there a way to test the cell to see if it’s bad?
