That's good to know! I've also noticed that when you cut the fronds, you encourage new ones to grow more quickly, hence, more seeds.

This effect is also seen when you try to poison rats and they respond by having more litters and larger litters. And why when deer scratch their horns against oak trees the oaks respond by bearing more nuts. And when a pine tree is in poor health it has huge numbers of pine cones, even before the needles turn off-colored. Genetic need to continue the species.

What a beast of a tree! Quite a specimen....I'd still cut it down though.
