Drained (to the shallow end) and filled this pool twice. Still cloudy as heck in the deep end. Haven't seen the bottom drain since last year.

Learned about TFP and SLAM about two weeks ago but not in time to save this guy's pool in time for July 4. Slammed it at 28 ppm, got the chloramines to disappear but the cloudiness would not abate. And still has not. There's fine brown powder on the bottom of the shallow end. But it floats off when I try to collect it. How am I ever gonna get rid of this cloudiness?

Patience. You are very close. Be sure of your CYA and keep the FC at the proper SLAM FC level for that CYA. Continue to brush, inspect (everything), and clean the pool each day. Do the filter as required. Stick with it.

Thank you. I did my best for two weeks. Then the owner said drain and fill to have it ready for fourth of July. Now I feel like even despite this drastic measure, the cloudiness is barely reduced. Also, is this calcium on my walls? Is that what's making my water so cloudy? What is the source of my cloudiness? I do not know *what* is clouding the water.

Okay, so let's back up. You tried to SLAM but the owner wanted the water changed, so you did that (a couple times) correct? Are you still in SLAM mode? If not, you probably should be, or at least do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. Can you post a full set of water test results? We should start there as well.

When I have issues like that I turn off the skimmer valve and only have the bottom drain on and brush the “poofs-crud” towards the bottom drains. I don’t do this though if there are any large pieces like leaves or bugs etc…. Seems to help me!

At this point I have a pool full of cloudy tap water lol. I figured out how to make progress. I have to keep brushing the bottom to keep the brown powder in solution so that it gets filtered and doesn't just sit on the bottom. I am now gaining clarity by leaps and bounds. Points to who said "shut off the skimmer and suck from the bottom." Basically what I figured out before rechecking the forum at this time.

Looking much better as I pack up to return the fire hoses. I got most of the cloudy out by brushing nonstop while draining to waste then refill.

I just ordered my TF-Pro. How much liquid chlorine to add to a pool filled with fresh tap water from the hydrant with CC/FC about 0.5 to 1.0? Approx ph 6.8-7.0, TA 80, CH less than 50, CYA under 10.

Very funny. I enjoy your Wolverine humor. I will eyeball 3ppm; people tell me I'm very intuitive like that lmao. :ROFLMAO:

All kidding aside, thanks to everyone who took the time to write me today. I appreciate you.

It was not humor. Download pool math app and it will tell you how much liquid chlorine to add to add 3ppm. Link-->PoolMath

3ppm will be safe and will stave of algae growth.

July 4th is 7 days away.
Keep with the
SLAM Process & do all the things

Very sharp flashcard. "Like"

I will get a Taylor test tomorrow at the good pool store lol. My personal kit should be here in 2 days. For starters, I added 2 gal liquid chlorine to the 21,000 gal freshly refilled city tap (hydrant) water before I left.

Ok. I just did that. Depending on how my cya shakes out, I either added just the right amount or a little over.

Get 30ppm of dry chlorine stabilizer in the pool. Add it using the sock method. Use pool math to figure out how much that is...Link-->PoolMath

Lower you pH to 7.4 with muriatic acid.

Once the sock with CYA is in the pool and pH is 7.4, start the SLAM process. Your target is 12 FC. Link-->SLAM Process
