TFPC newb in phoenix

14:05 FC 16 +65oz
16:45 FC 18.5 +24oz
19:30 FC 18.5 +24oz

3lb CYA dissolved in about 4 hours, will test it again this weekend.

_Fillitin - I tried to follow everything so I could get it right the first time and understand. Too many years of just dumping stuff in blindly. I followed a bunch of your posts earlier and glad you made it through, looks good!

I should have been more aggressive brushing the rock on my step because it is/was home to a lot of aquatic species. I wish I had it removed while it was drained actually, looks cool I guess but it's mostly just in the way. View attachment 36628

I never got around to it earlier, here's my "Before" shot (May 6)

If it poofs up and clouds when you brush it then it is probably yellow algae. I have a feeling that rock is going to keep stuff hidden. Can it be removed to clean it real good?

Also if it is tough to brush off, it maybe iron staining.

You can get some cheap vitamin Ctablets and rub them on it to see if it disappears.

I can't remove the rock for cleaning, I should have had it removed permanently while draining. I've been squatting on it and scrubbing it with a steel brush, got through a few layers of algae over the last few days.

The yellow algae did cloud when I brushed it, but still remained on the pebble until I SLAMed. Vitamin C for algae or iron stains?

First full test post-SLAM now that FC is below 10.
Time 11:55
Temp 74F
FC 8.5 CC 0
pH 7.9
TA 200 (7-8 drops 10mL)
CH 550 (22 drops 10mL)
CYA 55 (50-60)
CSI 0.9

Planning on adding acid to bring pH down to 7.2 and starting the acid/aeration process to lower TA, is this correct?
