Pool is in Kailua Kona, Hawaii --- where there's seemingly ALWAYS some form of biological particulate and/or volcanic byproduct in the air --- hence, within my pool.
My new variable speed pump and new salt water generator are each programmed to run on the same schedule, ten hours daily: 8:00AM - 6:00 PM.
I do realize that each pool and each location are unique. However, I must ask this 7-YEAR NEWBIE QUESTION: Is there a basic guideline which I have not discovered on TFP regarding SHOCK frequency, other than shocking AFTER the occurrence of green pool water?

Jack,

I have three saltwater pools.. I have not added a single bag of "shock" in the past 8 years.. And... I often shy away from threads discussing our SLAM process, because I have yet had to perform one.. Good for me personally, but not so good for answering SLAM questions... :)

Thanks,

Jim R.
