Test Kits Compared - Taylor 2006C

Hello, I hope this is helpful. I received my K-2006C recently and noticed that the number of tests shown in Pool School - Test Kits Compared is low on a couple of the tests.

The kit includes three 2 oz (60 ml) bottles of CYA reagent. At 7 mls per test, 180 mls does around 25 tests vs. ~8 tests listed in the table.

The kit includes 2 oz (60 ml) of pH indicator. At 24 drops per ml (conservative), it would allow for 288 tests vs. ~100 listed in the table.

In case my kit was unusual, I checked Taylor's site for components, and my kit had the correct set of components.

It's possible that they have changed the contents of the kit and we will have to address that table. I know my first test kit was a K-2006-C and I did not get three bottles of the CYA reagent.

Is the comparison chart based on a K-2006 basic kit? Perhaps the 2006-C kit which is a larger contractors type kit is intended for pool service technicians?

No, the table has both the 2006 and the 2006-C. I'm pretty sure Taylor has changed something in how,the products are delivered.

Looking at Taylors site, I found that they now list 3 2oz bottle of CYA reagent. They are also including a dropper. The price is also higher than I remember it being listed.

The price range could go up as well. Amazon has it at ~$85, Sunplay $95, others more like $130

It is certainly time to update that table. That has not been looked at for a while and I know the CYA has increased. I'll make that my project.
