Temporarily wire B2982 motor to run as single speed

I'm considering replacing my single speed motor with the B2982. My current pump is a B2854, running on 230 volts. I have 3 wires going from my timer to the motor. I only want the end cap toggle switch to control between low speed and high speed. I will continue to use my existing timer to control ON/OFF. Unfortunately, I cannot find any toggle switches in stock. So until I get a toggle switch, can I wire a B2982 to run as high speed only? Based on what I'm reading in various websites, I should be able to do this. In fact, it looks like the toggle switch (model #2512558-001) simply "splits" one of my two hot wires into a low speed and high speed wire, which would then connect to the appropriate connectors on the motor.

My current ground will connect to the motor ground. One hot wire will connect to the common. One hot wire will connect to the high speed terminal. Nothing will connect to the low speed terminal and will be covered with electrical tape.

Is this do-able and will it not harm the motor? Thanks.

Welcome to TFP.

Yes, you can just connect power to the common and high speed screw and run the pump at one speed.
