I have the Taylor K-2005C kit which has the R-001/R002 chlorine test, and I also have the Taylor K-1515A FAS DPD test. I want to use the liquid test (R001/R002) from the K-2005 kit for quick checks, but the results from this test are much lower than the results from the R870/R871 test - they differ by 2.5ppm. My readings this morning were 3.0 from the liquid test and 5.5 from the powder test.
I have a Poolmaster 5-Way test kit which gives the same reading as the R870/R871 test for FC (the Poolmaster only goes to 5.0, but it's obviously a little darker yellow than the highest color on the test vial), so I believe the reagents that came with my 2005C kit are bad. Kind of funny that the Poolmaster kit would be more reliable than the Taylor kit for this test. I've also found that the Poolmaster kit is spot on as far as TA and PH when compared with the results from the Taylor K-2005C. Just sayin'...
Kind of glad I got the K-1515A, otherwise I'd be over chlorinating and I don't like swimming in an over chlorinated pool. Going to get in touch with Taylor about this since $85 is a bit pricey for an unreliable product.
