Hi everyone,
just got my first Taylor 2006C test kit by fedex today, after ordering from Texas on last friday.
I got it from Ebay for around 200 CAD shipping and tax included.

Which is cheaper than Walmart.ca with a shipping around 60$ and a total around 260 CAD.

I did my first test today and it was really satisfactory:
FC: 5
CC: 0
PH: 7.4
TA: 125
CYA: 45
CH: 300
Salt: Around 4000, but not confirmed since I did not receive my test for this yet.

I just switched to SWG this weekend, which is already working great thanks to the "Effect of adding" in the app.

There is 2 things, I think I should adjust in my water: Lower my TA and augment my CYA.
I want to lower my TA, but it will take a while since each time I lower my PH it goes down just a little bit. I guess there is no magic trick from what I read.
I also target my CYA around 70, which is the recommended level for SWG.
Anything else I might be missing?

Looking good. On the TA, don’t focus on that. It’s of secondary concern. Unless you have trouble with your pH rising really fast, it is fine. And as you said, it will likely go down on its own. pH goes up, add MA to lower pH, TA goes down, then it repeats. It and pH will tend to settle over time, though you will likely have slow pH rise for the long term. Reason is, tabs that too many people use (causing CYA problems) are acidic. So it keeps their pH suppressed. Not using tabs and using a SWG removes that constant acid addition. Also, there is some aeration in the SWG FC creation process which is a natural pH riser.
