Tan Liner - Lighting Question

Hi All,

I'm in the pre-build stages of my pool (permit submitted). PB is planning on starting at the end of this month. Hopefully the weather will cooperate (55 degrees today but 3-5" snow predicted for tonight, so much for Spring!) It will be a 18x36' rectangle. 4' down to 8.5' in the deep end. I'm driving myself crazy trying to pick out a liner (seems to the norm based on other threads!) :) I am leaning towards a tan liner for an aquamarine look.. Most likely sandstone from Latham but I haven't confirmed this yet with my PB as I still have some time.

My PB has given me some general advice on lighting. If I decide to go with a dark liner he suggests going with a standard 500W white light in order to light the pool adequately since the dark liner will eat up the light. He suggests only going with the Colorlogic light if I go with a lighter colored liner. So.. any advice on if I were to go with a tan colored liner? Should I go with the standard white light or should I go for the color? Anyone have any experience? I'm trying to figure out exactly how the pool will look lit up at night with a tan colored liner.

Thanks!
Scott

I love my tan liner and I'm not sure you need that much extra light at night but that is a little subjective. I have the boneville tan/mosaic from latham in my pool. As you can see it looks really different in changing light conditions.

The light in my pool is a single 50w equivalent led bulb rated at around 500 lumen.

I would go with 2-3 color changing LEDs. We have what's considered a medium colored liner, which is on the darker side, and have 3 LEDs. They work great and put out plenty of light. You can't go with just one LED with your size pool and get enough light, you would want at least two spaced out on the long side of the pool.

Yes, just get more lights if you want colors. I love our color lights! Biggest positive surprise of the build.
