Tampa Pool Build (Almost Completed) - Pebblesheen Completed and Water Filled

Ready for you first "job" for the pool build? Run out there with the plans and a tape measure. Is it long, wide, deep, etc enough? Add about 8" for the steel, shell, and plaster. Remember it will be 16" or so for the sides and ends as it is 8" for each side (yeah there was someone who got a smaller pool because they did not think of this ) NOW is the time to fix or tweak.

Thank you Kim. I was able to run around in the dark and verify the measurements given about 8 inches for the shell/plaster. How thick is the shell for the floor usually?

The shell with steel and plaster is usually around 8" but that does vary from builder to builder.

Late post. Rebar was completed last Thursday. The PM came out on Friday morning to verify everything looked right. He will be shifting/relocating the bubbler a little closer to the shell for it to be centered in the shelf.

This morning the inspector came out and approved the rebar installation. The PB called this afternoon and said shotcrete is schedule for tomorrow morning.

Wanted to get some advice and do/dont for Shotcrete. I understand that its a wet mixture in the hopper then shot but are the rules the same as gunite such as not resusing rebound?

Shotcrete crew came out this morning and completed the shot by 2pm. Very professional and knowledgeable.

I guess this is where construction slows down a bit. I will start the watering process this evening.

The shell seem good. Was told that the PB will be bond coating it before the PebbleSheen.

It seems like the next couple weeks will be progressing slowly. I will have plenty of time to go thru the links.

The pool build was only giving test strips. I have already purchased the TF100.

A little quick update after being away for so long.

After about a month since we got the shell shot, the PB was able to get the plumber out here to get the piping ran partially back to the equipment pad area. The first plumber was a nightmare to get in site and getting the job even completed, after a month they got removed from our job with the plumbing still incomplete.

After several phone calls and emails to the PB and two months later they were able to schedule another plumber to get the job completed. Just passed the plumbing and footer inspection on Friday after they failed it the previous week for having piping directly under the footer.

Since the long wait for the PB to get their plumbing completed, I was able to erect the pool solar array, get it connected and piped back to the equipment pad.

Now lets see how it takes to get it finished, summer is half way thru, hoping for Labor day to have it all completed.

I'm confused about the piping under the footer being a problem...it seems like that would be unavoidable...the pipe has to cross under the footer to get to the equipment pad doesn't it?

It was installed parallel to the footer and under it directly. I think it would have been fine if it a few inches under the concrete but due to the recent rain events it uncovered the pipe which unturned failed the inspection. I guess it was a blessing in disguises to avoid future issue and maintenance.

Sorry it been a while. Watching this build is like watching grass grow. Its been 6 months since breaking ground.

Before they could start tile and coping we needed to drain the pool due all the rain we have been getting.

Last month they came out and completed the tile and coping but now we are at a stand still waiting for pavers to be started.

I was able to have my screen guy come out and demo the wall in the mean time.

I guess we are shooting got Halloween to be able to swim.

It is for sure a slow process. I'm on like week 16 of a 9-11 week build.

You're a bit ahead of me. My coping and tile were done a month or two ago and awaiting plumbing and electrical now. It was slated for 2 weeks ago but of course they pulled the "rain" card when we asked what's going on last week. So much for a labor day pool party.

I see this getting stretched out for another few months at the rates the subcontractors are moving. I have gotten several responses that rain has delayed them a week or so.

A little small update.

The PB was able to get the paver crew out here in mid-September but ended up missing a pallet and half of pavers. Waited a month for the missing pavers to arrive, then took another month for the PB to get the remainder installed. Which got finished this week.

While waiting for the PB, I was able to get my screen crew to install the cage this week. There is a few minor punchout item but got it alot quicker than if we had the PB do it.

The sad news is the pool equipment is on back order without a delivery date. Does anyone know how far backed up Pentair is with their pumps?

How frustrating to be that close only to have to stop for supply issues I would think about just buying any 2 speed pump you can get your hands on if you can everything else. Then when THE pump you want shows up swap them out and see the other pump.

I agree with Kim talk to the PB about installing a temporary pump (or see if you can find something on Facebook, ebay, etc). I was told and read somewhere online that the heater is on backorder until May. Don't know about the pumps but if one product is that backed up, I imagine others from Pentair could be as well. And OMG, you're over 9 months at this point, aren't you?

How frustrating. It sounds like you have a very linear PB... Does only one thing, and only starts thinking about the next thing once that's done. Makes it easy for them, but very frustrating for you.

On the plus side, things are looking pretty good so far. And I love how much land you have out there. I'm guessing maybe even over an acre? We have a tile roof, so I don't want to put any kind of solar panels on it, electric or water heating. I would love to do something like you and just put them on the ground, but we don't have anywhere close to the space for that.

Also, any extra space we do have seems to quickly grow a fruit tree... I'm sure we'd have a full orchard if we had an acre plus!

Wanting to see if there was anything missing or needs to be relocated.
