Our pump is about 6 years old. The motor has died. Hubby was going to replace just the motor Hayward 2HP 2 Speed). If we got a VS motor, how would that work with the (very clunky) automation?
Thoughts?

We would need the make and model# of the pump (not the motor), there should be a label on the basket side of the pump (not the motor label).
If you can take a picture of that label, we can help..

This is the right vsp package.

I think you will only get pump on off through the prologic... @ajw22 can likely confirm.
That is a Century VGREEN EVO™ MOTOR

You can control the on/off function through your ProLogic automation, but you cannot control the pump's RPMs. This article reviews the compatibility of your automation with Century motors.

Is there a different motor that would permit greater control?
The latest Century VGreen EVO motors include Century Connect support and will automatically communicate using RS-485 with Jandy, Pentair, or Hayward automation systems. About 18 months after the introduction of the EVO VS motor, Century changed the motor’s firmware and began advertising its “Century Connect” feature.

Century VGreen EVO motors are available in 1.30, 1.65, and 2.25 THP models with square and c-face flange. Look for the Century Connect label on the packaging.

So.... If we got the VS, we would just "run" the motor from the control panel/automation 24/7, and use one of the preprogrammed schedules on the motor to take advantage of the VS?

Working to find replacement. Out of town for the long weekend. My current plan is to dump on chlorine to keep FC at good levels, and run our robot to mix the water up.
Any other suggestions?
