Switch from DE to Cartridge ... talk me off ... or push me over the ledge

Logged in and saw a LOT of posts in my thread ... thought there was a lot of filter type discussion ... nope! Just a huge tangent

Wife picked up the filter today, I have not seen it yet. Figure for $85, worth grabbing it.

I talked to the guy and asked what all his customers were switching to up in Phoenix that he has all the cartridge filters. He said "newer style filter ... the quad DE", wondering if that is something he is selling his customers to help clear up their water (which is likely more chemical problem than anything else). :hammer:

I will certainly try to figure out a way to plumb in a drain ... will show you all what I come up with. Although that might be months out.

I also bought a 25 box of DE today so that I can start to "polish" the green out of my pool

Ha! Somebody should tell that guy that the “newer style filter” (QuadDE) has been around for about 8 years or so. It ain’t that “new” .... but you’re right, nothing will clear an algae ridden pool faster than .... better filtration

I will admit that one aspect of the Quad’s that is really nice is that they are easy to clean. The material that the cartridge is made of can handle a very intense spray and the “pleats” in the cartridge are not very densely spaced so it’s easy to clean out the gunked-up DE. It’s a much better design than the traditional spiral grid style DE filters.
