I’ve been running my pump 24/7 and the salt water generator is also running. I’d like to cut it down. My question is is it better to run the pump at night or during the day?

Just finished a slam and finally have the pool crystal clear. Want to keep the momentum going

Which pump? Is it a VSP? A single or two-speed? How large is the pool? Does your power company have time-of-day metering?

Hayward. Single speed 2hp. Pool is 25000. Not sure about power company. I’ll find out. When is best for the pool vs the electric bill
The BEST thing you could do is convert to a VSP by changing the motor or getting a completely new VSP. You could then run the pump 24/7 if you like, at a low rpm and save back the cost in a short time, especially if you are able to change the motor only.
Do you have an SWG? If not, try running your pool from 2:00AM until 8:00AM and see if that is enough to keep the water as clear as you would like. You can turn it on for pool use then off afterward. If you have an SWG, you will have to find a time that keeps enough chlorine production for your pool's needs, especially with a single-speed 2hp energy hog.
If your power company is CENHUD, you may have time of day metering if you signed up for it. For them that is 2:00PM - 7:00PM and that is when the power is most expensive.
