SWG pool with PVC liner - color coating peeling off

Hello, new registered here.
But I watch your great forum for some time already.

I have a problem on SWG pool with PVC liner. The SWG is not controlled other then built in electronics. No automatic pH adjustment, no SWG on/off control.
The electrolytic cell is running, when the circulation pump is running… Not good, I know.
Unfortunately the client does not know the pH nor FC/TC/CC, total alkalinity, calcium hardness, thus neither LSI.

I have a video, but don't know, how to post it. As you can see on the attached picture the dark color print on the liner is peeling off just by slight finger brushing...
Any idea what might be the cause?

Welcome to TFP! It would be very difficult to determine the cause of color patterns peeling off of the vinyl. That is because we do not know the history of the pool, its age, chemicals that were used, and/or chemical levels that were maintained over a long period of time. LSI (or CSI) is generally not something we worry in vinyl pools since they do not have any calcium products in them from the manufacturing process. Pool owners in this forum are advised to use a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit to properly manage their chemical levels, however I imagine obtaining one of those test kits might be difficult in your location. I don't know for sure. Excessive Free Chlorine levels (FC) and/or an uncontrolled pH are sometimes the cause of liner problems (i.e. brittle or cracking), but not so sure about peeing.

I don't have any other advise at the moment or the peeling other than to encourage the owners to properly test and control the chemical levels to help maintain their liner for a long period of time. Maybe some other readers will have a thought. Have a nice day.

I am chemist with 20 years experience in public swimming pool industry in Central Europe. I am aware of the Taylor test kits, they are great, but really difficult to get them here. But we have some other good manufacturers here.

I absolutely agree with you, that determining of the cause is almost impossible here.
Just made my blind shot and ask, if anybody observed similar scenario in the past. I have never seen this.

Yes, I saw the liner becoming brittle because of some chemicals (e.g. Copper), swollen and later on cracking because of low pH and high FC concentration...
Not peeling color print yet...
