Hello, the way my pool was set up, the electrician and pool company put the SWG and Filter Pump on the same switch. Should these two always run in conjunction with one another?
Yes, you should never allow the SWCG to run if the pump is not on.
If this is causing the cell to produce more chlorine than you need, you should either turn the cell output percentage down or reduce the pump run time.
I did not see where they have a VS pump... But, I am not a fan of turning VS pumps on/off, but have been told it will not harm them. I doubt they have a battery, which is pretty old school. I suspect most of them use a cap to store a charge for at least a day or so...
For VS pumps, I personally recommend constant power be applied to the pump and a timer or relay system be used to control the SWCG.
