Hi there!

I'm finally gonna install the SWG and thank you for all the good info. Here's the equipment pic (old pic but connections still valid):

Where do you guys recommend I install the cell?

--- Update ---

Adding here what I'm using for future reference:

# PVC Pipe Diagram
- Caveats
- - Might need CPVC?
1- Out from the heater
2- Corrosion-Resistant Check Valve
3- SWG's Flow control unit
4- SWG cell
5- Union

Neither of those descriptions are correct. Both will result in no FC generation when in Spa Mode.

The SWCG does need to be reduced in %generation when in spa mode. Automation does that for you.

I would to horizontal even if pentair suggest vertical. Just for safety reasons(flow switch).
Ok, I'll measure and see if everything fits.

The one I'm installing is a Circupool RJ-60+ and they have diagrams and seemingly a separate vertical install kit that I would prefer not to buy, so I'm relieved that I can install it horizontally without having to buy anything else.

I've read here in the Forums this:

If you go vertical , make sure the flow switch gets mounted with up flow and not down flow. It will eventually fail and you don't want gravity closing the switch for you if the spring breaks.

Thanks. Here's what the manual says for my Circupool RJ-60+:

For combined pool and spa systems with a spillover, configurations #2 or #3 allow chlorination for both the pool and spa during spillover but preventing possible over-chlorination when operating the spa only.

I don't have automation.

Question:

Does the in-ground cleaning system play any role on this install? Is it still valid to install the SWG right after the heater taking that into consideration?

Another Note from the manual:

NOTE: When using a Variable-Speed or Multi-Speed pump on a low speed setting, or for general circumstances where flow is less-than-adequate, the cell must be inverted in order to ensure adequate flow & efficient chlorine production.

This is basically telling me that I should install the cell "looking down" or inverted, as I might choose on the long-run to have the pump run at low speeds.

That is fine. Just remember, when you use the spa, the FC will be 0 in it pretty rapidly if you are not replenishing it.

I could see that on option #3 above where the SWG is plumbed directly to the "Pool Return", but what about #2, where it is plumbed before both returns? Wouldn't that chlorinate both the Pool and the Spa if the valve is set, say, 50%-50% for both?

To use the Spa only I'd set the valve to 100% Spa position. If I were to plumb the SWG as it is shown on the option #2, wouldn't it chlorinate the Spa then?

In the thread specific to my new installation, I've been recommended to install following plumbing similar to #2, but with the flow-regulator in-line (right after or before) the cell.

Thanks!!

it can be installed after heater, it would not matter but in ground cleaning systems need a lot of flow and high energy consumption. If you already have a robot, no need for the inground. Always run enough rpms to make the flow sensor happy.
