Alright I'll add the LC tonight, retest and get up to level throughout the day tomorrow, and find some muriatic acid and more LC tomorrow evening. Can I add the MA any time between leveling my SLAM?
Last night it was 0 and I added 461 oz of 10% liquid chlorine which should've brought it up to 17 ppm. This morning I added 1 scoop of the powder to 10ml of pool water and it turned a very dark pink. Unable to get it to go clear. What was the FC last night ?
How much bleach did you add ?
10ml or 25 ml ?
Did it sit for a few seconds clear, go pink again, and you kept going ?
I never like this. I like 'I added 3.5 jugs'. It's way easier to math wrong when its 461 ounces.461 oz of 10% liquid

You can do a 5ml sample and each drop is 1 FC.
Ok so I replaced my tip with the old one and wiped with a damp cloth between each drop. I also tried the 5mL test with the same results. Solution goes very dark pink or red and never lightens up. I saw another thread on here about that happening when CYA was low so I also checked that, and it appears to be 50/60. Admittedly I'm not confident with my CYA test because it's hard for me to judge when the dot completely disappears. When I checked last night it was 40 and I've had to add water this morning because I did a quick backwash to try and remove algae debris from the filter, so if anything I assumed it would've went down not up. I want to add LC this morning to keep my SLAM level up, but I just can't seem to get a FC reading. There have been some tip issues. If you can swap with the old tips, do that. If not wipe the new tip after each drop and a few tests later that static charge will be gone.
There are no prizes for being done in 9 seconds. You will not ever miss 20 more seconds. I promise.Definitely took longer but appeared to generate results
There are also no prizes for measuring 203 ounces in 20k gallons. Eyeball it and add a few extra glugs just to be certain.or a little more than 1.5 gallons

I can't help myself. I'm an engineer and my OCD demands precision. It's a blessing and a curse. There are also no prizes for measuring 203 ounces in 20k gallons. Eyeball it and add a few extra glugs just to be certain.
GREAT. Road test both ways and see how you cant tell the difference. *if* you see it, its because of the 1 drop test variance and it wasn't you.I'm an engineer and my OCD demands precision. It's a blessing and a curse.
So take the steps completely out as well? Or just the ladder?Take those ladders out of the pool and scrub INSIDE them with bleach/water solution...ask me how I know...
I got this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003Q8GCGO
If you have a light, scrub behind the light. If you have a main drain, you need to remove the cover and scrub in there. Don't do it if you cannot see the bottom of the deep end...wait for it to clear a bit.
See post #8...slime in the ladder caused me an extended SLAM.
SLAM, Rain, Dissapointment.
In the middle of SLAM. Pool clear CC = .2. 2 nights ago OCLT FC loss was 2.5ppm. Next night, OCLT FC loss was 1.5ppm. Last night was 3ppm loss. It rained all night. Must have brought a lot of chlorine eating Crud out of the air. So disappointing.www.troublefreepool.com
