Has anyone found a way to clean your salt cell without buying the stand?

After I bought my IC40 cleaning plug, Matt (Joyfulnoise) tells me he uses a tennis or similar ball that fits in one end of the cell...

In this case, later was not better...

3" Fernco Cap (The rubber one with the hose clamp) and the female threaded part of the union. I got mine from a plumbing supply house but if you've ever changed your cell, they come with extras. Grind/sand/cut the nubs off the union portion and press it into the Fernco. Tighten the clamp and screw it on to the end of the IC40. Stand up the IC40 in a bucket and fill it up with your acid solution.
