SWG and Pump plug directly in to the breaker

The previous owners of my home plugged the SWG and pump directly into my breaker box. To turn it on you actually have to flip a breaker. Now I would like to add a timer to the mix so that I can have it run for only certain hours of the day. Is it ok to simply put a timer box in there and add some plugs to the pump and to the SWG?

You will get good advice, but with a in-ground pool I believe they have to be hardwired or cord must be less than 3' and slotted plug. But easy enough, you can hardwire them right to the timer simply enough.

The link below provides a good overview of code relative to NEC, but your house might be subject to different and more involved requirements.
