I am currently getting bids on a new pool and asked for the PB's to add a SWG to the quote. As others have mentioned on other posts the PB's have been discouraging SWG with the primary complaint that a salt system will raise the PH level of the water. I called our MUD to determine the PH level of my water and was told that it averages about 8.7, which seems high to me. Based upon the high PH of my water supply, do you think a SWG is a bad idea?

No. The pH of the fill water has little effect on pool water pH once filled. In Houston, you will use very little fill water, you get rain. And it is humid.
And a SWCG does not raise pH in the pool water. A myth. The PB is comparing it to using trichlor, which is very acidic. So yes, you will have to use acid in the pool to control pH if using a SWCG. But it is no different than the acid that is being added when using trichlor.

Nope. Once you adjust the pool water the first time, it will have a PH of pool water. From then on it will behave as a pool. A SWG is a fantastic idea for a pool. I would pay 3X as much for mine tomorrow if it broke. Maybe more.
The funny thing is, they will leave you with a spillover spa and waterfalls/bubblers running 24/7 without blinking. There will be crazy PH rise from those 3 but they are somehow ok. The myth of a SWG raising PH is taboo on the other hand.
