Hi.
I have recently fixed up a freeze-damaged outdoorspa (split manifolds), and am currently getting to know it.
It's my first spa and my only pool-experience before that has been a 5000L kiddy-pool with sandfilter.
To begin with I had a lot of biofilm in the pipes so to get rid of that (before finding all the good advice on TFP) i dropped the PH to 6,8 and kept the chlorinelevels up in the shock-end of the scale.
This worked like a charm and I'm now back to PH 7,2 but still running high chlorinelevels. All surfaces in the tub and in the pipes are now clean.
Anywho the issue I'm having is a lot of suspended particles in the water that are especially visible in front of the light at night.
They seem to be blowing out from the returnpipe and appear white in color (although they are too small to really know)
Everything else like oils, sand, gunk from the pipes and stuff floating on the top get filtered just fine, and looking at the filter there is no question that it's doing it's job (yuck!).
So the only theory I'm left with is that it's the filter itself that is giving of the white particles.
It's a disposable Darlly C4326 Micropure Filter (Rebranded Micropure MF170 as far as I can tell)
Have anyone else experienced issues like this?
Could it be the low PH I was running for a few days or all the gunk from the pipes that caused a premature filter failure?
Have I received a bad filter?
I'm thinking of trying the Silver Sentinel version instead as I rather like the idea of the disposable 1 micron filters, and do not want to wash and store the pleated ones. Any other alternatives?
