High guys
I know there is no need for supplemental oxidation in low-bathered pools.
The question i want to ask is how can we define a pool low-bathered or high-bathered?i mean is there any number seperating them or defining a pool low-bathered or high-bathered so i can give my clients the appropriate disinfection they need?is this defined according to pool volume or number of users?

Thanks a lot

Each person-hour of bathing in a pool will roughly consume 4 grams of chlorine in the process of chlorine oxidizing bather waste. 4 grams of chlorine in 10,000 gallons of pool water is roughly 0.1ppm. Whether or not those oxidation reactions generate CCs that are detectable is not absolute as it depends on the chemical compounds involved. However, it is know that supplemental oxidation can cut that chlorine use rate in half. BUT .... and there’s always a big but involved .. that depends on HOW the supplemental oxidation is deployed. Ozone works best when there is a large volume contact tank it can be bubbles into and allowed the time to destroy organic waste. Simply blowing ozone into the pool plumbing is generally not effective because the ozone will bubble out of the returns and outgas into the air (Ozone has very low solubility in pool water). UV can help destroy organic waste but you typically want the pool water to have as long a contact time as possible and so utilizing a parallel flow plumbing setup helps.

Residential swimming pools have exceedingly small bather loads and so the use of supplemental oxidation is almost undetectable in terms of its effect on chemical levels. Unless your customers plan to have daily pool parties with the neighborhood, it’s really not worth the cost or upkeep. Most SWGs or liquid chlorine injection pumps are adequate for keeping up with the chlorine use rate.

Are the pools indoors or outdoors?

What is the typical number of bathers per day?

What is the age range of the bathers?

Are the pools commercial or residential?

Are you having issues with water quality or bather complaints?

What pool water temperature are you using?
