No idea where to post this. I'm going away for 2 weeks and I don't want to come back to a pool that is no useable. I only use LC, so should I do the math and dump x amount of LC into the pool before leaving for vacation? Any issues? Not really concerned about staining the liner or whatnot.

If you have no one to add chlorine for you, then yes, you can take the FC level up to your SLAM level based on your current CYA as referenced on the FC/CYA Levels. In addition, if your CYA isn't too high, you can put a couple tabs in a floater.

Here is thought outside the box, take it up to or just below slam level then cover it. Being in Toronto area, you may have a cover when you winterize it.

Adjust pH to 7.2 before your chlorine dose, then cover. You should be good to go. When you get back, let us know how it worked.

Well, opened my window today and noticed my water levels down by approx 8". Went out and was expecting to see a leak and sure enough, one of the 1.25" flex hoses attached to an inlet cracked. It gets sunlight from 7am-3pm directly. Not a surprising shock but I'm happy that it happened now and not while I was away. Pump was whining from all the air. and so much debris in the pool, skimmer stopped working. So I taped it up with tuck tape and it's all good to go. Just finished the first wave of vacuuming and it will certainly require another. Adding water now but more than enough that I'll have to retest everything and start dumping some goodies into the pool.

Just checking the prices of a replacement and wow, the cheapest I could find is Amazon for $40 for 2. Good reason to save the money and start looking at hard plumbing come next year.

So, just to wrap up this question. I super dosed my pool before leaving for 2 weeks and came back to a cleanish pool. There was a little bit of green starting to form and the water was getting a little cloudy so I slammed for 3 days, pool is back to normal. Went swimming last night, was great but a little too much chlorine for my liking. lol

If you sensed "chlorine" during your swim, you're more likely picking up chloramines, a by-product of the oxidation process. It might mean that you ended your SLAM early as CC's need to be 0.5 or less. Presence of CC means something is in the water and FC is doing it's job.
