Sunshade and chlorine demand?

Recently installed a new SWCG, and have been monitoring Cl demand and working to get it dialed in just right.
But now it's getting hotter, the pools warm, and so today I put up my shade sail.

I wonder what impact the extra shade will have on my chlorine levels, if any.
Doesn't really matter. Either way I'll keep testing it and figure it out; mostly I just wanted an excuse to show off my shade sail setup

Not likely to effect the FC loss by much. A full cover on the pool will, but a bit of shade, not so much.

Great looking set up. I've often pondered doing the same thing. While we get blazing hot heat, the shade might help a little with FC and water temp. Time will tell. Let us know.

I predict your FC usage will go up, because you will be spending even more time in the water enjoying your pool! It looks beautiful! For real though it will have very little effect on FC use. It may help keep the water a touch cooler though.

Yeah, we've had the sail for a couple years now. It definitely helps keep the water cooler.. and keeps my bald head from burning in the texas sun.

Nice job with the shade sail! I tried to do something similar several years ago, but before committing to a permanent installation, I secured my sails to the surrounding trees to test out the theory. I was constantly worrying about the wind snapping a tree every time a storm came, so I didn’t leave them up long. Unfortunately, my test didn’t result in cooler water. I ended up with a chiller, and interestingly, the guy that installed it was out of Haslet.

Looks nice. Any update on effect on Cl demand? I was thinking that shading a good portion of the pool for a lot of the day would reduce Cl demand, but it seems like the consensus is that is likely to be negligible.
Also, what was your shade pole material and how deep did you dig, concrete footed?
