Suggestions in the adding of borates

I have a new hot tub and trying to add borates at this point. All chemistries looking fine.

I took some water out of the tub and attempted to pre-dissolve half of the boric acid amount that I am to add (I have the granulated product) but it does not seem to want to go into solution. I suspect it might dissolve in the warmer and larger volume of the tub but making sure.

It is advisable to remove or leave the filter when this is added? Just concerned about filter being plugged while it is going into solution.

Any thoughts much appreciated.

I’d leave the filters in place myself.
