good morning y'all

been a little struggle with my TA, using dry-acid (left overs from previous owners), but will pick up some MA today, however, todays results:

FC: 6.0
CC: 0.5 (very slight pink, one drop cleared it using the 10ml method)
pH: 7.6
TA: 130
CYA: 40

.. looking back at my logs (available through my profile), any suggestions about lowering that TA just a little more, seeing that my pH rose about 0.2 from yesterday. TA results was a little messed up a few days back, up and down. I think I might have messed something up, but confident this mornings was good.

I was thinking today, Acid Demand test, try and bring pH down to 7.0-7.2 with MA, hopefully dropping the TA a bit more and just let pH naturally increase again. I mentioned on some of my other posts, my strainer basket at the pump has a slight crack under the lid. I first thought it was gasket, but definitely a little crack, when I turn my pump off small amounts of water squirts out that crack, so it pulls a little air, hence very slight bubbles on the return, which I think helps with the pH increase a little. I did order a replacement basket, will fit it when I clean/change my filter, maybe this weekend.

Don't worry about the TA. Keep pH in the 7s and it will come down over time. If you want to lower pH to 7.2 and let it rise to 8, then reduce again to 7.2 that is an ok approach.

Don't sweat the TA..manage pH in the 7s and all is good in the pool. If you get in...

What is the TA of your fill water?

I am not sure, I will go do a test, but that was actually my next question. I want to top-up the pool today or tomorrow a little, so will that decrease the TA ? I guess I will know by testing it. I will do it later, assume the same method as testing pool water ?

Ok will do, going to Menards hopefully today and pick up some MA to keep if my pH gets a little high, not gonna worry about TA so much then.

Yup - test for TA exactly the same as for the pool water.
Check the pH too.

Based on the results, we may have further recommendations.

With a fill water TA of 280, you may need to action to lower the TA.
A lot will depend on your evaporation rate and how much free rain water you get.

Will keep MA on hand and manage my pH, lower and let it rise and lower again, which in turn hopefully will bring TA down over time. Thanks guys !
