Stenner pumps

I have an M series Stenner (fixed, I use about 32 oz. Chlorine per day), 3 years old starting to make grinding noise on each revolution. Rather than repair, thinking about buying this one.

Anyone have the Econ series? Just want to make sure they're ok. Plan on taking mine apart to see what it needs.

Econ T had some timer issues that other members had identified, but Stenner Tech Support just posted that it was a firmware issue and they've resolved it. I had ruled out the Econ T and was about to go with a 45 series fixed plus a wireless timer, but since they addressed the timer issue Im back to considering both options. Leaning towards the Econ T but curious to hear others chime in.

I've got a 45MPHP10 and it has been reliable for 3 years. Starting my 4th year with it. Two years ago I replaced the tube inside the pump and that is easy enough. As long as the problem is not with the motor you can replace the whole pump portion much cheaper than a whole new pump. They are easy to work on. I've never looked back - love the pump and liquid chlorine setup.

Mine is the 45mphp1. After looking it up, turned out it's 5.5 years old! I run it all year (2-3 hours per day, 1 hour non-season). Think I decided to stick with it, plan on taking it apart to see if it's the head or motor. I did buy a head kit 3 years ago, may just need a new one. $50 a lot cheaper than $250!

I have been using Stenner EconT's for both my stand alone hot tub and pool for a while now. They are rock solid and I have had NO issues with them . Other than tubing replacements annually , I have had to do nothing to them . Timer is perfect , and they just plain work .
Due to the shortages of liquid chlorine this year (aka bleach shortage) , I caved and went with a SWG for the pool . Hot tub is still running a Stenner Econ T . I can highly recommend an EconT if you decide to make the switch . They are SO easy to use. Timer is very simple , and easy to program , and as in all Stenners, the pump works perfect .

BTW, the link you have listed has the WRONG picture listed ! That is the flow activated Econ "FP" . The Stenner you want is an Econ "T" . It appears that the listing is for an EconT, but the picture is an EconFP . Also, that is the 25 PSI model, you would want the 80PSI version for a pool with a high pressure pump .
The one I used on the pool is an EconT E20T4G. The reason I chose this model , is because it is the 80psi version (they also have 25psi models, which I use on the hot tub) , and its very easy to figure out the dose . The E20T4G pumps .51 gallons per hour . So 1/2 gallon per hour makes it very easy to adjust up or down per dosage rates. I was running about 1 - 1.5 hours a day for my pool .

BTW - I will be selling my E20T4G shortly as I replaced it with a SWG (Circupool RJ60) , so I have no need for it any longer.
If you are interested, let me know ! Even has some brand new replacement tubing sets to go with it ! It works perfect, but since the SWG change , it will just collect dust now . Was thinking of keeping it for a Muriatic Acid doser , but I dont think I need to go that direction .

I'll need to think about that offer, thanks! I took mine apart today. Rollers were stuck and the roller unit was stuck to the shaft. I believe what happened is the output tube got plugged and bleach was leaking inside the housing. I put new tubing in a couple weeks ago, but didn't take it apart then. Once the bleach dried, I think things got corroded. With some oil and hammering, got it all apart and cleaned up. New tube and everything seems to be rotating and dispensing correctly. Being it's 6th season, it may be time to buy a backup.

I have it dispensing on high speed, 16 oz per hour. I'd need to do some rewiring to change the outlet to full time 220. Is your unit 220? Age?

Wow - timing is everything. Woke up this morning and could tell the pool just had a tinge of cloudiness to it. The Stenner Pump is working well, but there was no chlorine in the pool. It was time to replace the black tubing, coming out of the pump, it was completely clogged from crystalized chlorine at the injector. Replaced the tube inside the pump too. It had been two years since we did this.

It's all pumping again just fine this evening. Should be trouble free for another year.

Hey tcat , great job getting that stenner up and running again . Maybe all it needed was a thorough cleaning !
My EconT is a 120v version . It just plugs into a standard outlet . I have 3 summer season on it . SO .........in Central PA , thats about 18 months of pool time total , lol . Main roller tubing replaced every season .
Oh, kept inside the whole time I have used . My equipt is in a "pump house" , so everything is out of the sun/weather .

Think I'm just going to buy the same 45mphp1, that way I've got new, plus a working backup. Same 220v, same time setting. $235 for all new parts.

Yea, that is probably a smart decision . At least it will be a direct swap, its 220v and you already know the pump in and out. Plus you will have a spare now . Good luck with the swap over !
