Pool has been sparkly clean with very little staining (well water) - the best in the three years we've owned the pool! Needed salt and instead of buying Morton's at Walmart that we always use, I bought a bag of Clorox salt (being cheap)! Paying for it now! Staining all over stairs, along the vinyl sides in the shallow end of pool - what a mess. So my less than $1 savings will now result in AA treatment, four bottles of Purple Magic (two for the treatment and then maintenance) and more chlorine to bring the level back up after treatment! Just a warning to others (I did find old threads from 2017 with this issue)! Stay the heck away from Clorox Salt!!!!! Going to try using batting in the skimmer basket to see if that helps trap anything!

Staining seems to be a common problem with some people who use Clorox Pool Salt. Buyers seem to trust the Clorox brand name and think it ensures quality. I think the Clorox brand has gone downhill unfortunately.

Oh no, I am so sorry! I just put 4 bags of this brand into our pool this weekend and we have a dark liner. Now I am scared to look when I get home :( I did notice that it dissolved great but didn't notice any staining initally. How long after adding did the staining appear?

About a week later! First noticed it slightly discoloring the steps and each day it increased - it is still mostly in the shallow end of the pool and tomorrow when I get my Purple Stuff, I'll start the AA treatment! FYI - found a great deal on Amazon by Pool Geek for 4 bottles of Purple stuff for $85. Best price around! Usually, I can get away with a Magic Eraser for a little spots here and there, but it was heavy enough that scrubbing with the Eraser was useless! Unfortunately, the empty bag went to the dump, but I'm still going to contact Clorox! As I said, we've always been happy with Morton Pool Salt from Walmart and never had a problem! Also, I'd purchased skimmer socks and found that they are turning brown so hopefully that indicates they are helping! I tried polyfill batting but the socks appear to do a much better job - I just rinse them and reuse! Best of luck!
