Stainless ladder/railing lubrication

Does anyone lubricate or wax their stainless ladders and/or ladders to make it easier for removal in the fall? There is quite a bit of scaling where they are inserted into the deck. I figure that I can scotchbrite them clean with a stainless cleaner then apply something after they are cleaned up.

I would try some silicone spray on them.

I think I'd coat the end with pool lube before I plugged them in. It's silicon and teflon.
