"Stained" Pool?

So we went on vacation and came back to a green pool. I opted for a run to the store to try and get a handle on it rather than slam. They gave me two bottles of algaecide (trying to track down what it was). I am pretty sure that the algae is dead, however, the pool looks like this. Did the algaecide stain the bottom of the pool? On the white steps there is a layer of something that if I scrub super hard parts turn white again. What are my options? I don't have my numbers, but my TF kit and a run to the store had the same numbers and I was told "chemically the pool is perfect".

Since algaecide doesn't usually kill algae and your pool is still green, I'm going to say you have algae. I'm also going to say your chemistry isn't perfect and not only was the pool store wrong but also sold you two bottles of worthless algaecide.

I suggest you cut your losses and opt for the SLAM Process this time.

EDIT: Oh right, also I agree with zea that you should definitely let us know what the algaecide was. At best it's something that just won't do much. At worse it could be something that will cause major and long-lasting problems with your water chemistry that will require a major water exchange to correct. Hopefully it's the former.

Ok. I had to track it down...sorry: 2 bottles of SaltScapes Saltwater Pool Care - Algae Remover on the 2nd. Then on the 5th, 1 bottle of BioGuard Algae All 60.

It doesn't seem green, more of a blue green which is generally what it looks like after I have killed the algae.

The Saltscapes has copper as the active ingredient. You may want to get the water tested for metals since the only way to get rid of it is to drain and replace water. Too much copper can cause stains on the pool surface, and may turn light colored hair and fabrics green.

That picture is of an active algae bloom. Zero doubt about it.

And yeah, that's quite a bit of copper algaecide to add at once (of course, any quantity is too much IMO). Could be a problem.

Just wanted to provide an update. It was just fine particles suspended in the water. I did a power floc treatment and it is almost all gone.

I was always sure it wasn't an active bloom...for me at least active blooms are true green. Whenever I get it like this it means it is dead.
