stabilizer dissolve rate

For the past 4 years, ever since having a pool , new at the time, I add stabilizer ea. year when first opening, going to 40 ppm from mostly 30ppm, loss of around from 10ppm due to water level reduction when closing and water addition from rain/snow through winter and early spring.
After adding the correct amount of stabilizer by volume, I try to increase 10ppm or so to get to 40-50ppm.
I don't use pucks, just liquid chlorine , 12% from Menards.
After the first hr of it in a sock in front of return, I squeeze and get plenty of white foam.My pump runs from 3pm -10pm.
After that it seems to not dissolve at all with no effect when squeezing the sock.
After a certain time does it just not do anything once it gets to a certain point? Over 2 days at 4 hr ea. I think half is dissolved , I don't leave it out after I head in for the night as I don't want it just hanging there when the pump is off, if that matters even.

That is weird huh? Well, it can stay in the water suspended as to not touch anything, or you can leave it in the skimmer basket as long as it doesn't block your only source of water suction flow to the pump. For some weird reason, maybe you just got an odd batch of stabilizer than congealed when others don't.

What CYA (brand) are you using? I dump 3-4 lbs in a filter sock, put it in the skimmer, and work it a bit to make sure it is all wet. I come back in around 1-2 hours and am easily able to squeeze it all out within like 10 minutes. None is left at all in the sock. I test the next day and my readings (CYA test) show it is entirely dissolved.

Let that pump run until it is totally dissolved. Use thinner socks or a thigh high panty hose thingy. I wouldn't leave a half melted batch just lying in a skimmer over night without pump running. Pump seals can get a straight shot of acidity.
