Square hole in pool shell?

Hello,

I noticed after they shot the concrete, there were two holes left in the shell. One looks like an intentional square between the drain. And the other one with the pvc pipe was from them shooting when that pvc was part of a sump pump. (I believe that they had 3 sump pumps running due to rain every day for 3 weeks here in Florida. The hole was already dug and dirt getting beat up by the rain). It could also be for some other use I’m not aware of. Any education on this is appreciated!

I have two of those. Yes, weep holes to allow water from under the shell to migrate into the shell. The will either be filled completely shortly before plaster/pebble, or, they can install hydrostatic valves in each (or one) hole to allow water pressure under the shell to burp into the pool. Would not typically happen unless the pool were drained.
