Spring Conversion Baquacil to Chlorine

When done correctly, an exchange drain can move most of the contaminated water out of the pool without significant mixing of the fresh water or the water level dropping.

That sounds good, I have 3 pumps pulling out water so the drain is going real quick. I have only 8” more of removal then will start refill.

Drained down to 14” on shallow end, was looking good until it wasn’t corners of liner started to turn loose , stopped at that point and started a slow refill around 4:20pm! Have been taking time to let air pockets work out and also using a squeegee to help some to corners. I managed to work out part of a wrinkle that was there when we bought the house. I have been watching patiently and making sure that wrinkles are smoothing out. Our pool has corners sloping at about a 45 deg angle so thats where it started first but they are going away as water level slowly increases.

We are filling at a rate of 12 gal / minute and looking good

Just want to add, I would have never had that extra push of confidence to do all of this as a newbie had it not been for the info and help on this site! Looking forward to Summer already!

I decided that a partial drain and fill would be the best way for me to go after looking at options being pointed out by TFP members.

Progress. The bucket in photos was used so I couldn’t get side tracked and waaaay over drain the pool. Not that I would forget but just to be safe. These were positioned so the draining couldn’t go below 14” or so.

Day 2: Early this am, first two and last two were the final 2 hours of refill. Refill took around 12 hours with two garden hoses.
