"Spots" Floating on Top of Water

Pool has been open for about a week. All my levels are within the proper range and the water looks good.

I have always had these "spots" floating around on the surface of the water. You can only see them if you look at just the right angle into the sun, which is the angle that this picture was taken. Is this normal? Does every pool look like this and I just have never noticed?

Do you mean your water is "sparkling"?

I guess it's tough to see in the picture. There are these white specs floating on the water about 1/4 inch diameter. I guess maybe it's pollen. Doesn't seem to go away no matter how much I run the filter. Maybe I'm just being too picky.

Yes, it is probably pollen. You can out some filter socks or hair nets in the skimmer basket to grab them. Too picky? Nope, nothing wrong with wanting perfect water!

I don't see anything.

Pollen, maybe? Or does it look rainbow shiny like an oil slick? That could be tanning oils. A scum ball will remove them.
