Good afternoon all. Great forum and lots of excellent advice here. My wife and I are in the initial planning stages of a pool and backyard renovation. Currently have a 18 x 38 in-ground vinyl liner pool set back from house on approx. 1 acre property. Pool has older style white aluminum coping. We have met with local pool builder that has been in business 50+ years, and we will be replacing liner (looking a black liner that runs throughout - no faux tile border at top) and removing the coping and switching to a paver-style overhang coping. Also re-doing the plumbing, surrounding pavers, etc.
My wife and I have thought about also trying to incorporate an in-ground spa. We do not like the look of the typical spillover spas associated with the liner pools, though (I think they are made of fiberglass?).
So our thought was to look into a raised gunite spa that is set back some several feet from the pool. But, we would still like to have the water spill over / flow into the pool...almost like a small waterfall / stream that would incorporate rocks to give it a natural look. That way, we can use the same equipment for pool and spa and only have to worry about water chemistry for one body of water.
Is this doable? Anyone have a pool like this? I can't even seem to find any pictures online of setups that look like this.
Thanks in advance for your help. FYI we are located in Southeastern PA.
