Better is to shut off the make up line to the spa and use your existing valve actuator and automation to schedule a Spillover for a couple times per day for 30 minutes or so.

Can I just ask do you have to move the actuator to AUX 3 or does the RS do that automatically if you remove anything else already on AUX 3 (like spa blower or lights or whatever)? Then to get Spillover when pool pump is on you also turn on AUX 3? Lastly, why do you suggest only running spa spillover for 30 minutes a day? Why not continuously when in pool mode? Thanks so much for the clarifications and all your posts!

The actuator stay plugged into the RETURN and SUCTION sockets.

The AQualink knows to rotate the return actuator to the spa when you turn on AUX3.

Correct.

Lastly, why do you suggest only running spa spillover for 30 minutes a day? Why not continuously when in pool mode?

Running the spillover continuously increases your pH from the aeration it causes.

Also, running the spillover erodes the spillover area much the way the Grand Canyon was created by water flow.
