Should i use unions or just couplers?

6 couplers or 3 unions and 3 couplers?

Unions would have to be partially buried into the dirt

Well completed it today, went with unions on the bottom, hopefully its ok if they get buried with wood chips a bit?

So did i do this correctly? Will test for leaks in 2 hours.
