Spa irritating skin

I have a spa that spills out to the pool. I noticed the spa was always irritating everyone’s skin so I tested the water separately.
Pool
FC 3
CC 0
PH 7.4

Spa
FC6
CC3
PH 7.4

Assuming the high FC and high CC is causing the irritation how do I balance the pool and spa water. Do I open both return valves equally? Meaning pool and spa return valves equally open? Right now I have the spa return valve open just a little to allow for a slight waterfall over the spill out which I would have assumed would cause a lower FC level. My salt cell is plumbed right after the heater and before the spa/pool return valve.

thanks

In most automation systems, the controller will dial back the SWG when the pool is running in SPA mode. This ensures that some chlorine is being generated but not a lot. If you have a lot of spa bathers at one time and the SWG is running full blast, you are creating very highly chlorinated water that will become very harsh on skin.

I suggest either turning off the SWG when using the spa or dialing it way back. You should also run your spa occasionally (like once per day for an hour or so) in spillover mode (suction side valve towards the pool and return valve split between the spa and pool) so that water in the spa is exchanged with fresh pool water.

You need to get more flow through your spa and turnover the water more to keep even chemistry between the spa and pool.

Thanks. Makes sense. I can set a program up to run in spa mode minus the heater to circulate water every day.

You want a mode where the spillway is on and the spa and pool water mix. That way you keep the chemistry equal.

I run two different Feature Circuits per day - I run the SPA mode for 45mins which circulates water through all spa components and then in the evening I run the spillway (suction from pool, return to dedicated spa return line). That way, all plumbing sees chlorinated water and the spa gets a fresh exchange of water at least once per day.

Hi, Matt, I’m new to the EasyTouch. I programmed the basic Pool & Spa modes, and Pool schedule, which work fine, but would like to do more. I have read the manual over and over, but it seems to be written by a native Esperanto speaker.

Is there a way to program a feature to turn the valves to spa mode without turning on the heater or speeding up the pump, and then reset the valves to pool mode after a while?

The other feature I think I’d like is a “fast pool” mode just to speed up the pump for a while to increase skimming when needed.

Can you (or anyone) tell me how either of these things can be done? Much appreciation if you can!
