Spa emptying when selecting spa

I will leave the spa running and see if it stabilizes and post results thanks.
The spa return check valve is there to prevent draining back to the pool WHEN THE PUMP IS OFF AND NOTHING IS RUNNING.

You said "every morning I’ve lost around 5 inches of water". Does the pump shut off during the night?

Is the SPA in SPA mode overnight?

I am now confused about the conditions under which you lose 5 inches of water.

Sorry for the confusion when I first had my issue it was due to the pool guy replacing the gaskets on the actuators and not turning them back on. This I thought fixed the issue.

2nd I had to drain some of the pool and refill and noticed the spa was low every morning even after not running.

3rd I started using the spa last night and lost around an inch of water in 30 min

With pump on or off?

You lose some water over the spillover when people go into the spa.

You need to be more specific on the conditions during the water loss?

So after around 30 min of running the pump in spa mode I’ve lost around 2 inches see below

I would check that your return diverter is not leaking some water back to the pool in SPA mode.

Pool mode - The first occasion was when the pump had been running for the day on pool only then the next morning we would loose around 2inch in the spa.

Spa mode - The second occasion was last night we ran the spa and it lost around 2inch of water with the pump running in 30min.

Spa mode - This morning as a test the spa was at the correct level so I ran the pump and in spa mode and it lost 2inches of water

Pool mode - switched back the pump to pool mode and it has refilled the spa over the spill way

The one circled the gasket was replaced recently. That’s the electrical one.

The one with the arrow does that need to be moved every time
I use the spa ?

You did not take an perfect overhead picture of the return valve and there is some parallax.

It does not look like the handle perfectly aligns along the center line of the pipe.

The red line shows what I view as the center line and the green line looks like the handle and valve is offset.

Looks a bit cocked to the left to me.

The OFF tab does not align perfectly in the middle of the grey edges. You see grey on the right and none on the left.

The internal cam stop needs to be tweaked a bit.

Ok I grabbed a better picture this is in pool mode currently as seen in the picture
That is the SPA MAIN DRAIN which is different then the RETURN valve discussed in post #30.

Apologies adding a picture of both now in pool mode pump off

Picture 2 the RTN I can see a small blue dot indicating dead center

Picture 1 look off center as you suggest perhaps by one hole to the left looking from above

Final spa picture of water level after the pump has been running for 6 hrs on Pool
That offset not perfectly closed SPA MAIN DRAIN will suck water out of the spa while in POOL mode and cause your spa draining when the pump is running.

GM I have the Hayward Manual and looking at my setup where is 12 o’clock on the cam settings is it 12 o’clock from the pipes or the actuator.

Q.2 I moved the cam on the gva 24 left hand one which controls SPA main drain and back to the cleaner and pool drain which slowed down the spa emptying whilst using.

Now the spa is emptying slowly when putting the gva24 back to pool mode

Q.3 whjch actuator needs adjust ment spa main drain on the left or spa return on the right looking

Q4. Do I move the cam clockwise or anti clockwise

Thanks again

I’m in the process of looking for leaks and my pool guy comes tommorrow so any input appreciated

Current situation

1.Currently the spa is empty down to the water jets each morning
2.the pool return in my second picture is the gasket he is going to replace as it’s in line to the water jets where the water drains to. See picture

I’m also filling the pool around an inch every 4 days perhaps may be due to it’s not raining anymore.

Can anyone suggest anywhere else for him to check thanks much
