So I finished building the actual pool and filled it yesterday (I'll create a build thread & post them when I'm completely done). I'm now ready to tackle to plumbing process.
I want to hard plumb everything with 2" PVC using approximately 100' of pipe (around the pool and to the side of my house). I would like some advice where I should put shut off valves/unions etc.
Starting at the skimmer, it is 2" and I planned on sending it strait down into the ground. Should I place a union or shut off valve below the skimmer and what is the reasoning if so.
I only have 1 return. It is 1.5" and I plan on going strait down 1 foot, placing a T, sending the T 1 foot into a shut off valve and then about 1' into a 90 installing a custom fountain. Now back to the T from the return. I plan on going strait down into the ground and increasing it from 1.5" to 2" before the 90 in the ground. Once again, do I install a main shut off valve or union before I reach the ground? If so, what is reasoning for this.
At the equipment pad...
Skimmer line comes up from the ground, place a 90, then 3-4" of pipe, then a union, then 3-4" more of pipe then into the pump.
Top of pump - 3-4" strait up, 90 degree, 1 feet pipe, union, 1 feet pipe then into the DE Filter
DE Filter out, 3-4" pipe, IC-40 SWG, 3-4" pipe, 90 degree into ground to return on pool. Am I correct by saying the SWG comes with unions on both ends so I won't need to add additional ones after the DE filter?
Should I place any shut off valves at the equipment pad?
If I put shut off valves at the pad, do I still need them at the pool? Or should I just put them at the pad and not put them at the pool?
What are those black irrigation looking valves that I see in a lot of pics here on TFP? Where it looks like they have 2 inputs with 1 output. Where do you get them? Do I need them or they mainly for pools with more than 1 return/skimmer?
Thanks so much in advance !!!
