Solid winter pool cover size

My solid tarp cover tore ove the winter and I need a new one

My pool guy says the overlap should be 7 feet on both sides. I have a 16 x 32 inground pool and as far as I remember the old cover had an overlap of 5 feet each side as is evident fron the covers available online

is 5 feet overhang adequate as 7 feet seems a bit too large?

The more overlap you have the better chance the cover has of staying anchored. If 5 feet worked for you I can’t see 2 more feet making a big difference. 7 feet overlap would be great but 5 feet should be ok.
