Solar Pool Cover Not Heating

This is my first year with the cover but I'm expecting around September/October we will have to start using it again. By the end of this month I will have to start aerating nightly just to keep the pool from getting to hot. So with our hot summers the pool keeps heating up. Easily getting above 96*. I think last year I could get it down to 89-90 using aeration.
