solar heater

I have a 27' round above the ground pool. I don't have a nearby roof to install panels, therefore it will need to be on the ground. I get lots of sun and last summer my water stayed warm. But we are having a lot of rain and cooler nights this summer and the water isn't getting warm at all. I plan to buy a solar cover but I read I should get both in order to keep the water warm. On amazon they have the solar arc, blue wave and kokido. Can anyone give me advice on any of these products?

Solar heating is all about square footage. Get large flat solar panels. Not little domes. You need to be sure you do not run the solar when cloudy or you will lose heat.

The cover mostly retains the existing heat and will help a lot.

In my experience the solar cover does generate heat, but it seems it is best at saving heat loss overnight. I can gain 2-4 degrees during the day and loose 1-2 overnight. Before I was loosing 2-4 overnight. I am also looking to add solar heat...

One other consideration is to make sure you are running the pump during the hottest time of day when using the solar cover. This will provide the ability to move the water and heat it up more evenly. I live in California and have been able to get my water to 90 degrees with a solar cover in the summer. It does lose heat overnight but does come back to the warm temp - as lomg as it is sunny and not too much fog

With solar panels + the cover - that off course is the best and I have had plenty of warm water with that combo during the swimming season
