Solar heater out of PEX pipe - worth it?

I am thinking of building a solar heater out of 500 ft of PEX pipe, similar to what you see on the attached picture. Does anybody have any experience with such a set up? Do you think it would make a huge difference for a 18,000-gallon pool? Any particular pump model that you would recommend for such a set-up?

Hey alosito !! There are 2 other of these threads going on right now, they might be on page 3 by now.... somebody likened it earlier to spitting in the ocean. They do in fact work but a couple hundred warmer gallons won't make a dent in 18k. If the pool is uncovered it will lose more in one hour at night than it picked up all day.

OK, that being said, maybe you are the person to figure out *how* to make it work efficiently. Have at it and take pics. :goodjob:
