I have a Compool Lx220 solar control system and it has been acting funny by having a relay make a clicking noise and turning on and off the control valve in the middle of the night. It has been doing it for a couple of years and someone suggested the micro switches in the control valve might be going bad so I changed them and it seemed to help for a while then it would do it sporadically until last week and it did it for over a half hour and I got tired of watching it. The next night it was not doing it but the Pool Cleaner Delay Expired light was on. So I tried to call Pentair to see if a Pentair Solar Touch controller is a replacement for Lx220 then after waiting on hold for 1 hour 10min I found out they could not tell me anything so I decide to ask the people here that have helped me out so much in the past. Is the Pentair Solar Touch controller 521590 a replacement for the Compool Lx220 solar control? Thank you for all your great advice.

That is Pentair's solar control, yes.
If you want something a little less expensive, $309.00 on Amazon, and as easy to use as the LX220 (which was a great control), look into the Hayward GL-235. You will even be able to use the same sensors you have now (as long as they are good). You won't have all the menu options (which you don't now) nor the display telling you more than you need (its fun for the first year). Have installed many after the LX220 was no longer available and had zero issues.

Thanks for the info on the Hayward system and I have found the Pentair Solar Touch for about the same price $304.86. So both of them would be direct replacements for the LX220 then could use the same wiring and voltage use
