Soft spot in plaster underground pool?

My pool is a salt water pool. Properly maintained. It is 6 years old and just recently I noticed "soft" spots around the perimeter. It is not a mushy feeling, but more like a hollow feeling when I tap my heel on the areas. I looked up delamination but this seems different?

The pool has gunite as its shell and then plaster.

Is this a serious problem or something normal with underground pools?

Have you been the owner of the pool since it was built?

How long have you been feeling this hollow area?

Is it around the entire pool?

How much of the pool feels this way?

It is not normal but the only fix is to chip out the plaster and put new plaster on.

If the pool is not leaking I would just keep an eye on it and not worry too much.
