SoCal Rock Pool

Love the clean look of the artificial grass - would love to hear any tips / ideas you may have regarding the grass project. Artificial grass is a part of my proposed pool project too - integrating a putting green in the backyard.

Installing the turf is not difficult. With anything, preparation is key to a successful project.

Site preparation consists of class II road base (primarily for drainage) and very heavy compaction by a vibrating plate compactor. The turf is easily rolled out, seamed together and nailed down around the perimeter. The rolls come in standard sizes of 15'X50' and weigh around 400 pounds. Lastly and infill material (silica sand or crumb rubber) is broomed into the turf to support the blades of grass and help them stand up. This also provides a more realistic looking appearance. I have yet to do this on mine.

There are many instructional videos on YouTube showing the installation process. It really isn't difficult, just very time consuming.

Amazing pool and landscaping! Brian, how did you get that edging around the palm and along the back wall? Is it a special machine that pours it, or a mold of some sort? I'm looking to have that same thing for my landscaping coming soon... thanks!

Its called mow curbing and it is installed by a small curbing machine and a very dry mix of concrete that gets extruded through any number of different types and styles of forms to shape the curb.

I would imagine this type of service is prevalent in your area. Most installers charge by the foot. It works out to less money than forming the curb, mixing, and finishing the way concrete would typically be done. It also provides a very nice transition between surfaces in a landscape.

I use the EasyTouch as a timer, a relay run to a photocell that powers an Intermatic PX300 that supplies 12g wire to all the lights. I just use cheap fixtures with LED replacement bulbs... Nothing fancy, just a lot of lights
